In the Factory: Mock-Up of 510 West 22nd St
The new 512 West 22nd Street, designed by COOKFOX, will replace the original 5-story old brick building that was previously 510 West 22nd Street in Chelsea. The new structure will hold office space with large, operable windows and plenty of outdoor green space to enhance worker productivity. Sitting adjacent to the High Line, the new building will also offer fantastic views of the Hudson River and Midtown Manhattan.
The undulating terra cotta façade is currently in the initial stages of production in the Boston Valley Terra Cotta factory. The full scale mock-up of one of the building’s corners was constructed for review by the project team. Panels were laid out for dry fitting inspection at our facility and then sent for installation by Facade Technologies.

Glazed terra cotta pieces for 512 West 22nd Street mock-up are laid out for inspection. The metallic glaze finish of the terra cotta contributes a richness and variation to the facade.

The custom terra cotta profile wraps around the building’s curved edges, creating a soft, undulating facade for this new office building.
