Boston Valley Terra Cotta Restoration of Historic Marion Palace Theatre
Boston Valley Terra Cotta has been working with Quality Masonry Company, Inc. on the restoration of the Historic Marion Palace Theatre, one of 16 atmospheric theaters designed by John Eberson that remain in operation in the United States today. The theater, with Moorish architectural details and a ceiling that recreates the effect of a star-filled night sky, was built in 1928 and renovated in 1976. The Palace Theatre plays a major role in the cultural life of the city of Marion and surrounding towns. Local performers and national touring acts are attracted to the stage at the theater every year.
The $1.8 million restoration of the theater was started in the fall of 2013. The entire restoration includes updates to lighting components, marquee and signage repair, and replacement of the brick and terra cotta facade. The renovation will preserve the original 1928 design for generations to come. Read more about the Marion Palace Theatre here. ( link expired)
