Terra Cotta Installation Nearing Completion at Cornell University’s Upson Hall

May 3, 2017/in Blog, New Build, TerraClad, Upson Hall

Installation is close to completion at Cornell University’s Upson Hall. Boston Valley Terra Cotta has been working with Perkins + Will on the renovation of the 160,000 square-foot building that houses the schools of mechanical and aerospace engineering. They designed the original building more than 60 years ago. This is part of an ongoing renovation program to improve the facility of one the nation’s top colleges of engineering.

The renovations will bring a more modern look while also improving sustainability and energy efficiency, making the building more environmentally-friendly. The tracking system used to install the panels provide additional energy efficiency. the Cascadia Clips allow for thermal breaks and a 6″ deep insulation cavity. Ajay Glass is in charge of installation. They trained at Boston Valley to ensure proper installation.

Images below show the modern vision for this renovation coming to life.
