Eight teams will present architectural prototypes at ACAWorkshop 2022

June 23, 2022/in ACAW, News

The Architectural Ceramic Assemblies Workshop returns for its seventh year, bringing more teams together at Boston Valley Terra Cotta to explore the possibilities of using terra cotta for large-scale assemblies.

The ACAWorkshop is a well-established sandbox for hands-on research and experimentation, where industry professionals can refine concepts and fabricate prototypes that often develop into built projects. Architects, designers, and engineers from the country’s top firms have spent 10 months furthering their understanding of terra cotta and developing innovative façade solutions. This year’s studies center around sustainability, with several teams focusing on the relationship between solar energy and bioclimatic performance.

Other teams have chosen to explore how the terra cotta rainscreen system can be integrated into historic preservation projects, or the sculptural potential of the material for architectural surface, exhibition display and urban furniture applications.

The ACAW 2022 teams are as follows:

  • BKSK Architects
  • BNIM
  • FX Collaborative
  • NADAAA
  • Steven Holl Architects
  • Woods Bagot
  • Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates
  • Pelli Clarke & Partners

Each of the ACAW 2022 prototypes will be presented live and online via webinar, as well as recorded for on-demand viewing. If you are interested in viewing the Zoom livestream of the event on August 18th, 2022, please register here.
