Custom Jade Green Roof Tiles for Newport Chinese Teahouse

The installation of the custom glazed terra cotta roof tiles is underway in Newport, Rhode Island.
The Chinese Teahouse in Newport Rhode Island is in the process of receiving new terra cotta roof tiles, crafted and glazed at Boston Valley Terra Cotta to match the the historic structure’s original jade green roof.
Alva Vanderbilt Belmont commissioned the construction of the Chinese Teahouse at the back of the Marble House property in 1912. It is thought to be the only structure in the United States of its kind east of San Francisco. The Teahouse was originally designed by the New York architectural firm of Richard Howland Hunt and Joseph Howland Hunt.
