Gargoyles of Gramercy Park Scanned in 3D
Along with the blocks of the historic facade on 36 Gramercy Park sits a series of gargoyles that are being restored.
On site, the surveyors used photogrammetry to measure and scan much of the existing facade. This proved to be a successful test for future building analysis and documentation. The more complex and custom blocks (much like the gargoyles) were shipped to the facility and scanned using a 3D laser scanner. Using these scans, the team at Boston Valley is able to digitally reconstruct the new gargoyles prior to fabrication.
More to come as these gargoyles move through the reproduction process!
