Manufacturing Methods Test on NYC Townhouse Green Wall Planters

April 17, 2014/in Blog, NYC Townhouse

Now that the shapes have been finalized, Boston Valley’s Model and Mold shop is moving forward with testing production methods for the NYC Townhouse Green Wall Planters by Michael Chen Architecture. The digital model image below shows the planter unit model in white and part of the mold in blue. These units will be milled on the CNC machine. The hole in the top of the planter – where the plant will be placed and grow – will be carved out in our finishing department after the part has been cast.

The photo below shows a test pour for the creation of part of the slip cast mold. Once confirmation of the production test has been achieved, the digital models can be finalized.
