Midtown Collaboration Center Revitalizes Community, Features TerraClad® Exterior

The Midtown Collaboration Center in Cleveland is a new 98,000 SF mixed use space for community innovation, driven by the neighboring Cleveland Foundation. The commercial tenants of MCC offer public services for social and economic growth, including healthcare, entrepreneurship, arts and education. The building also houses the Jumpstart program, which provides mentorship and capital to local startup businesses.
Boston Valley had the pleasure of manufacturing a TerraClad® rainscreen for MCC’s exterior, which was selected early in the process by architect Vocon. The project team cites that terra cotta has an elegance that reflects the “natural aspects” of the building design. Using a single asymmetric terra cotta profile that is flipped in different orientations, no three panels ever repeat horizontally or vertically. This creates a visual rhythm that “speaks to the community’s jazz music history through improvisation.”

The TerraClad® rainscreen panels are attached to the exterior with a track-and-clip system that makes installation faster and more efficient, while also ensuring even spacing. Only black felt facers and black fiberglass supports show through the open-gap facade.
