Alberta Dome Restoration

Alberta Legislature Dome: Work in Progress

June 4, 2013/in Alberta Legislature Dome, Blog
Alberta Dome Project By Boston Valley Terra Cotta

The Alberta Dome is made up of eight identical segments, like the one represented on this drawing. Each segment has about 450 individual double radius tiles.

In order to check that the tiles fit together perfectly, we built a mock up of the dome segment. After the tiles are fired, they will be positioned on this armature for inspection. This armature required several hundred pounds of nails to get the double curvature exact.
