Boston Valley Creates Custom Glazed Terra Cotta Facade at London’s 48 Carey Street
48 Carey Street is a new residential development located in Holborn, London– a deeply historical area located only two blocks from the River Thames. The building, which is currently under construction, will reach a height of 9 stories and will offer 202 different apartments in its interior. The architects at PLP Architecture reference the old stonework of the city’s most famous buildings. By reinterpreting the classic elements of the surrounding structures, the new building at 48 Carey seamlessly blends the aesthetics of the past with the present to create a new landmark.
The exterior of the building will feature terra cotta masonry, manufactured by Boston Valley Terra Cotta, accentuated by aluminum. 48 Carey’s facade is comprised of a custom glaze with monochromatic grey in various shades with both light and dark tones — in the detailed photos below of the glaze, the speckled marble becomes key in the visual texture of the building.
